Gwydir Learning Region
The Gwydir Learning Region is a collection of community, education and Council representatives who work to ensure that people of all ages have the best access to education in the local area. This group has been able to develop education programs to meet the needs of the local people.
The Gwydir Learning Region promotes a student centred approach to learning where all students are valued and all learning is valued.
The GLR’s key mission is to coordinate all learning in the region to ensure educational needs are met which will foster community capacity building and regeneration into a sustainable geographical region in northern NSW.
Some of the organisations that are encompassed by the Gwydir Learning Region are:
Country Education Foundation of Gwydir Learning Region
Country Education Foundation of Gwydir Learning Region was established in 2012 to provide much needed financial assistance and support to local youth to help them achieve their post high school education, training and vocation aspirations. We recognise that the cost of rural students pursuing their post high school goals is often much greater than those of their metropolitan counterparts and that sometime these costs can be prohibitive.
With this in mind, CEF of Gwydir Learning Region fundraises throughout the year and accepts donations from local residents and businesses in order to provide financial grants to students who need an extra helping hand. The funds come directly from your local community – none of it is government funded – celebrating the aspiration of local youth and working to help them achieve these aspirations. It’s our way of saying “we believe in you and want to support your goals”.
